Pre-school Board Nomination Update
Remember when I told you that I volunteered to be nominated for the Fall Show Fundraising committee for the pre-school? Well, it turns out that there was some more movement in the open positions and I was offered the nomination for Vice Chair! I am very excited and honored to have been chosen for this position. (I'm also glad that my work for the school won't be concentrated during those first fall months.) (Note: The nominating committee puts together a slate to be recommended by the board and then made official by a vote at the general membership meeting, so it's not actually final until then.)

Busy Makin' Stuff
I've been busy making stuff and planning stuff to make. My latest finished project is another tutu. This one is going to the church auction. (Yes, church. For those of you that know me as not very religious, I am now a UU -- spiritual, intellectual, and open to all ideas and beliefs.) Anyway, I'm calling this one Princess Pink. I'm not sure the combo of colors and patterns turned out as well as the others, but I think any girly-girl will love it.

Oh, and I don't think I ever posted about the one I did for Sierra. She picked the colors. I think it's my favorite!

And next I'm working on a lavender flower fairy tutu for my niece and a couple of cool cakes.

One Year
Today is the one year anniversary of my starting a blog! Happy blogaversary to me! I have not been very disciplined about posting on a regular basis, but I do like having an outlet for my thoughts -- kind of a public journal.
Thanks to everyone who has read my blog. You make me feel like I have something worth saying occasionally.
For my second year of blogging, I'll try to post more often. But no promises.

Am I Crazy or What?
So, it still has to go through the nominating committee and then official board approval and then official vote at the yearly pre-school membership meeting, but I just volunteered to be a fundraising chair next year -- the one who runs the fall show. I really want to continue to be on the board and I even want a big job. I know that I can run the fall show -- I'm fairly familiar with what it involves because I've been on the committee a couple of times. It's just that fall is birthday time in my house and every year I get sick overdoing the party planning and preparations. I've already vowed to myself that there will be no parties at the house this year. I will make the cakes -- that's a given. But the kids will get to pick a place to have a party that someone else plans: ballet studio, build-a-bear, aquarium, science museum, ... they'll get to choose and we'll invite a couple of kids. So if I can just plan ahead on the show and schedule my time well (hah!) I won't get sick this year???

Doombas!
For those of you that read this and know my past, this is particularly funny! (That "beard" is especially funny!) For those of you that don't know some of my ancient history, this is still funny.
"Soldiers can throw one of these in a building." "And then it vacuums!" "Well... uh...."
"You don't shoot stupid children, either."

Putting on the Happy Music
When I need a little mood adjustment there's always one CD that I play. It never fails to lift my mood, even if just a little bit. My mom had this album (yes, a vinyl album) when I was in high school. Then when I was in college, one of my roommates owned it and would play it for me (Thanks, ooolia!) when I was feeling depressed (about a guy, of course!) No matter what kind of music you're into, this music will not fail to make you feel good.
So if you don't already have it, get your hands on a copy of Bolling Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio, Jean-Pierre Rampal and Claude Bolling.
